Lugano's tram takes a step forwards
The canton of Ticino has provided 2 million Franks for the planning process of Lugano's tram. These plans will be submitted to the federal government by the end of 2011. Construction could start in 2015. The first line will run from Bioggio (near the airport) to the centre of Lugano and is estimated to cost about 200 million Franks. A second line linking Cornaredo to Scairolo will be added at a later point. Lugano's last tram line was closed in 1959, and the trolleybus system in 2001. Tages Anzeiger
