French night trains

In February this newslog reported that all French night trains but two were to be discontinued from 1st July. That hasn't quite happened yet, but the reprieve seems to be temporary. In many cases operating days are reduced and the trains are set to be finally axed at the end of the summer. The trains from Strasbourg via Mulhouse (and thus of interest to Swiss visitors) to Port Bou are already discontinued. Russian sleeping cars are presently being trialled on the Paris - Nice train.
