Steam tram for Saas Fee?

The mountain resort of Saas Fee is considering introducing a steam tram. The village may be car-free, but is nevertheless facing traffic problems on account of the large number of electric vehicles on its streets. A service with electric buses was succesfully introduced in the past winter season, but Saas Fee is aiming higher. A wood-burning steam tram could - in the long term - ply the village street. The system, requiring 750mm gauge track, two locomotives and eight coaches is estimated at 7.2 MCHF.
