VBZ trolleybus trialled in Lausanne

VBZ trolleybus in Lausanne
Zürich trolleybus 160 is being trialled in Lausanne from 19th to 25th July. The purpose of the trials will be to observe the vehicle's performance with respect to its battery. The present Lausanne fleet all have auxiliary engines rather than batteries. Use of battery traction could facilitate the extension of certain trolleybus lines without adding overhead lines, and also create flexibility in view of construction-related diversions.

80 percent of TL's passengers are presently transported electrically.
