Trolleymotion in Zürich

Barquisimeto and Zurich trolleybuses meet in Schlieren Yesterday was the last day of a two-day trolleybus conference, Trolleymotion. The event ended with demonstration runs with two trolleybuses that had been brought to Zürich especially for the event. These were Solaris Trollino number 173 from Winterthur and a Neoplan Electroliner destined for Barquisimeto (Venezuela). These runs started at Hardau depot, initially running on diesel as it was not clear whether the trolley shoes could handle the pointwork and the tram crossings. From Farbhof, the Trollino ran to Schlieren under electric power. The Electroliner tried to do the same but had to revert to diesel following a dewirement. On the return run, the Trollino ran electrically all the way. A series of photographic impressions of this truly amazing and rare event can be found here (or as an index, here).
