VBZ to order new trolleybuses
VBZ seeks to acquire 35 to 40 new trolleybuses, and expects to pay around 1.2 million Franks per vehicle - double the cost of diesel buses. Ride quality, performace on hills and ecological arguments, however, moved VBZ to retain this mode. The new buses will replace the worst of the problematic Mercedes/ABB trolleybuses. Possibly, up to half the new vehicles could be double-articulated, similarly to those recently delivered to Geneva. The technical prerequisites are currently being investigated.
